I constantly get asked, “do you live in Florida now?,” and “When are you moving back to LA?” My answer…IDK

I used cringe at not knowing the answer to this because I always had to have an answer for everything. But I decided to change my perspective because of everything this leap of faith has blessed me with.

I enjoy when I’m home in LA because I’m more intentional with my time. And I enjoy Florida because I’m meeting new amazing people, learning from other trainers, and being exposed to new situations. And I can’t get over the views!  It’s definitely helped with my growth of stepping out of my comfort zone.

Moving to Florida is by far the biggest and craziest thing I’ve ever done, but it’s been nothing but magical to see what has unfolded. And because of this I’ve just learned to let go and surrender. I call it my Pocahontas vibes haha…Just see where the wind takes me. My faith is in God and in trusting my intuition. I’ll know when it’s time to settle, but until then, I’m just enjoying the journey…and I hope you do the same on yours!

Currently, one goal of mine for the year is to provide workouts on an app or other social media platform to reach more of you!

I love having goals to work towards. Chasing goals makes me smile from the inside out. There’s something about constantly lighting a fire under my tushy to see what I’m made of that keeps me amped! Granted sometimes my goals change, but I’ve learned to be okay with it!

I used to feel that if I had an ambitious goal, and shared it with someone and then changed it, they’d think I’d given up, or I wasn’t equipped enough to handle the task ahead. Or also, that I had no idea what I’m doing with my life. However, my perspective has shifted. I’ve learned to embrace my nature and the fact that I really love to explore and only do things I have a passion for.

I learned that sometimes along the journey of working towards a goal, I learn lessons that direct me another direction, or I find out that it actually isn’t something I want to pursue. But I’m always thankful for the time I put towards the goal because I wouldn’t have learned otherwise. That’s why I say it’s never a waste of time to pursue what feels right. Something will always come out of it. And sometimes I share my goals with others because I want that accountability of having put it out there!

On the flip side, I have also learned to work quietly! I’m quite the person to share everything …ask my best friends…However, when you’re embarking towards accomplishing a goal you’re unfamiliar with, sometimes it’s best to work under the radar. Sometimes you don’t want those external influences.

Just know that when you choose to work towards a goal, it comes down to you at the end of the day. It’s your happiness. You’re the one experiencing it all, so don’t let others project their fears onto you because they don’t know what you feel in your heart, nor what you’re equipped to do!

GO GET THOSE GOALS!

Just a simple, quick reminder…

Life can surprise you every day…

Through the highs and lows of my experiences, I’ve seen how the darkest moments were actually seeds being planted to sprout things more beautiful than I could’ve imagined. With that said, even though it may feel crazy at times, I choose to always believe life is happening for me…and because of that I smile as much as possible having that faith.

So this is my reminder to you to have a little faith, it goes a long way.

I’m very thankful to Carla Delgado for the opportunity to have contributed to Insider on the topic of belly fat. Here are some of the highlights from the article:

“Maintaining healthy levels of visceral fat is beneficial to your health,” says Maricris Lapaix, a NASM-certified personal trainer and nutrition coach. Excessive visceral fat is a major contributor to cardiovascular diseases and other health conditions, so losing belly fat is important.

Since there’s no way to control where your body loses weight, to lose belly fat you have to  reduce overall body fat.  “The best practices to lose belly fat will be a balance of an active lifestyle, a nutritious diet, and maintaining low stress levels,” says Lapaix.

“It is important to reduce the consumption of foods high in trans fat, refined carbs, and highly processed foods with added sugars,” says Lapaix. However, avoiding food groups to burn belly fat is only a temporary solution caused by a caloric deficit, and the real key to keeping belly fat off in the long run is to create an individualized balanced diet that you can maintain long-term, she says.

“A mix of resistance and aerobic training will be beneficial to increasing one’s total body strength, and help reduce overall body fat,” says Lapaix.

Do you ever just have that day where everything goes wrong?! No matter what you do. You don’t have any bad energy, it just isn’t happening. I used to get a bit frustrated especially when I was on a massive time crunch, but then I just learned to trust that it’s all happening for a reason. If I’m safe, then I’m fine. And now instead of getting a bit frustrated, I get curious as to where life is trying to redirect me.

After all my physical road blocks this morning for a volleyball session that should’ve taken an hour…3 hours later I’ve come back having discovered a beautiful new beach, and a reminder from a cute little stranger to be kind and present, and share your energy with someone to make their day.

So here’s your reminder…when things aren’t going your way, no matter how well planned it may seem, just learn to let go and surrender. Control what you can control, and make the best out of it.

Boy oh boy, they’re not lying when they say you can be in a completely different place a year from now! There has been so much we had to face about ourselves, the people we surrounded ourselves with, our relationships, our mental and physical health, and even our careers. And unfortunately for some, even some losses in their life.

Our life is a continued journey, and while we don’t want to hold on to any negativity in the past that may have occurred, I think it’s so important to reflect. To remind yourself that when things seemed to be at their worst, and you didn’t know how you were going to push forward – YOU DID! And because of that you’re here today. You get to choose how you show up for yourself. You are who you believe you are. Things won’t always be easy, you’ll have days of inaction, you’ll feel the lack of motivation, and you will have days that seem hopeless.

If you told me a year ago I would be in a different state, and doing what I set out to do, I’m not sure I would’ve fully believed it. When things shut down I decided to look at it as a blessing for time and work as if I was already where I wanted to be. I had to fill my days like I was already in it. When I flipped that mentality I also took the pressure off myself. I thought, well shit, things are bad here, I’m barely getting by, but at this point, I’ve got nothing to lose so I’m just going to keep going for it. Tomorrow ain’t promise, so screw it. Worst case I know I can always go back and do something else. And on days when I didn’t know how I was going to do it, I just did what I knew until I figured it out. And I had to remind myself of my WHY to keep my mind and heart in the right place with the right energy. And full transparency I had plenty of breakdowns that my best friends had to help me out of…no one said it was going to be easy…

Keep fighting every day because you’re worth it, living your life as you dream is worth it, and being around the ones you love is worth every minute and every ounce of effort you put into cherishing this time we are blessed with on earth. You’re a damn rockstar, don’t ever forget it.

Can we just take a moment here? Life definitely throws us obstacles that can be out of our control, but that doesn’t mean we can’t find a way to flow with it.

When we come to uncharted or unfamiliar territory, like fitness, that may or may not have been a major staple in our life, it can feel a bit intimidating…and that’s okay! But what’s not okay is underestimating your capabilities. The reality is we can’t all be rockstars at everything. And also…we won’t like or love everything we do! We are human! We have our preferences. But the most important thing is to get moving and find what you love! Never let the fear of failing or being vulnerable stop you from growing and learning.

Don’t compare your journey to anyone else’s. Strengthen your strengths, and use them to empower you, but also challenge yourself and seek growth. That’s what life is about. And I must say that victories from challenges are definitely the sweetest!

Stop worrying about what can go wrong, and remember why you are excited about your fitness goal…and keep asking yourself multiple questions as to why that goal is so exciting and important to you…

For example
Why do I want to be more active?
Because I want more energy in my day!

Why do I want more energy in my day?
Because I want to be more productive in my day!

Why do I want to be more productive in my day?
Because I want more time for my family!

Why do you want more time for family?
Because they mean everything to me, and I want to be able to enjoy all our nights together and run around with the kids!

…I think you get the picture 😉 Your fitness goals are more than aesthetics. It’s about living a quality life that you’re more than capable of. It’s about enjoying life to the fullest! Take the first step and then figure it out along the way! I urge you not to take yourself out of the game before you get in it! Who cares if you don’t know how you’re going to get there?! If all you care is that you get to your destination, then all that matters is you’re committed to you, and figuring it out! Now go get it! 💪🏽
