Fam! I’m so excited to share that I’m the Health and Fitness Expert for Savvy, a lifestyle blog on Savings.com! It was such a blast to suggest items that I have as staples for all my clients, and also discover some new ones as well! These are all items that I’ve hand selected and would use myself, plus they won’t break the bank!  That’s key. Haha my Mom would be so proud of the savings …

The biggest thing about shopping for home equipment is purchasing items you would actually use, and having them be multi-purpose to keep things interesting, but also save space at home! It’s not always about the hype of the fanciest equipment. We just need to find ways to move that we genuinely enjoy!

Can we just take a moment to appreciate how amazing you are?! It’s so easy to look at everyone’s Instagram and other social media platforms and see their highlight reel and wonder if you’re enough or even doing enough. But the fact of the matter is, no one knows what’s going on behind the scenes, what’s going on in your day to day, what goals you have planted in your heart, and what you’re regularly processing mentally. You’re the only one who does! And that’s all that matters!

This is why the Self Love Challenge is so important to me. As we navigate this month, and our day to day, we have to recognize that the only thing that is constant is change. And it’s important to remember that you can choose how you move, and at what pace. The only way you should move is in a way that feels organic to you because you’re the one who is experiencing it. So if it’s improving your health, then take a look at the overall picture of your health, and pick one habit that will add value to your life…then go knock that habit out of the park! That’s all it takes! It takes the mindset of you recognizing right off the bat that YOU’RE ENOUGH, and that you get to decide how you want to move in your day to day! When you come from a place of love to make improvements or goals, it’s an entirely different experience, than coming from a place of lack. Don’t forget to be grateful about your starting point, but excited about where you see yourself going! YOU ARE LOVE! Don’t forget it!

As I continue to find different ways to move, I’m also becoming more aware of my body…where I feel strongest, where I lack range of motion, and experience tightness…and so on. My intention with my movements is to feel like I’m flowing with my body, and have a sense of release once I’m done. Repetition, care, and practice is what will allow me to improve.

And I want to encourage you to start thinking about improving your health and fitness in regards to improving your movement, not simply performing exercises. Our bodies are made to do so much more. By focusing on movement your body can function better as a whole, it will improve your day to day functions.

Here are some combinations I put together to challenge my stability, mobility, and strength.

Can I really do this?

What’s going to be the difference this time?

Do I even have time?

Do I even know what I’m doing?

I’ve been chatting with my clients lately about how I can support them to take the next step in their fitness journey. They’re great at showing up for our private sessions, but can sometimes find it difficult on their own to stay motivated. And what I’ve truly learned is that aside from wanting a great workout routine to feel stronger, everyone just wants to feel supported. They want someone there to provide that extra confirmation in an unfamiliar territory that they’re exactly where they need to be, and can get to where they believe they can be!

I couldn’t be more grateful to be in a position to help my clients reach their goals physically, but also have an effect on their mental health, and add more light and energy to their days! We all have our obstacles, but nothing is ever that bad when you have someone by your side. I just want to say thank you to everyone who has ever trusted me to serve them…it’s the greatest gift a girl can ask for. You’re the reason I can’t stop working! I want you to remember that you’re a rockstar athlete that serves everyone…your family, your friends, your co-workers…and you deserve the health that can allow you to keep doing what you’re doing…and that’s to live life to the fullest…keep on rocking!

I tried a new meal that I want to share with y’all! I’ve really been trying to mix up my regular routine with new recipes and incorporate new vegetables and play with what I already and in my fridge and cupboards. And I really enjoyed this one!

When trying to find new meals I like to pick my protein, and then search the Internet for ideas. When I find one I like, I look up a couple versions of the recipe and sometimes even combine a couple of elements to make it my own.

For this meal, I used the left over wild shrimp I had in my freezer and sautéed them with Cajun, onion, and garlic powder and lemon juice. I don’t have measurements on the powders, I just season to my liking until it tastes just right!

For the zucchini, I found a recipe on @pinterest from @ellie_krieger . The ingredients included cooking spray, 2 medium zucchini (about 1lb), 1 tbsp olive oil, 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan (I used my shredded I had in the fridge), 1/4 cup plain dry bread crumbs (I used my panko crumbs I already had), 1/8 tsp salt, freshly ground pepper. And for my personal preference I also added garlic powder to the mix.

Directions:

1.Preheat oven to 450 degrees F, and coat baking sheet with cooking spray

2. Slice zucchini into 1/4 inch think rounds. In medium bowl, toss zucchini with the oil. In small bowl, combine the Parmesan, bread crumbs, salt, and a few turns of pepper. (I added garlic powder too). Dip each round into the Parmesan mixture, coating evenly on both sides, pressing the coating on to stick, and place in a single layer on the prepared backing sheet

3.Bake zucchini rounds until brown and crisp, 25 to 30 min. Remove with spatula. Serve immediately.

I’m baaaack, and ready for 2021!!! Thankful for the much needed rest to reset over the holidays, and now I’m ready to get creative, and move and play! And there’s just something about Florida that makes me want to move and play. I absolutely love being outdoors here and challenging myself to create a fun and challenging workout. And I got myself with this routine – haha! Part of my goals in the new year is to challenge myself to become a trainer with more tools in my toolbox, to play with my movement, and be inspired by other great trainers by experiencing their workouts. The fun I have is what influences how I coach my clients as well. I want it to be an experience that becomes a life changing one for them that leads to a healthier lifestyle. So enjoy these fun combos! I love me some bear planks, and you can spot them in all three!

This is one of the biggest adjustments that my clients have to make, especially my full-time mamas and corporate clients. However, we have to make the best of it! I know many people have resolutions for the new year, but I feel like I’ve strayed a bit from that. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with resolutions, but I’ve become more fond of the mindset of small goals and lifestyle shifts whenever the desire strikes. Anytime of the year is the perfect time for a shift, or transition—not just the start of the new year.

Sometimes when we prolong things, we find reasons and excuses not to move forward versus taking action. That’s why I prefer small, mindful shifts that don’t seem overbearing, and are attainable. Nice and steady wins the race. And once you accomplish one, you continue to build on your goals. It’s great to have big goals and visions, but it’s also important to break them down. When you’re so used to a certain way of life, sometimes going cold-turkey or “going hard” can be a bit abrasive and place extra stress on the shift you’re truly trying to make. So rather than have a long list of resolutions, or think of new goals, sometimes I just simply look at how I can improve things that are currently in my life like – relationships, career opportunities, eating and workout habits. Nothing necessarily has to be “so off,” I can just look for ways to make life a little sweeter or keep the consistency and reflect on what’s really working to keep that going.

For example, my daily read, meditation, and gratitude practice have made such a difference in my life. So the umbrella theme for me in 2021 is consistency. Building off what has been a blessing to my life in 2020 – and that’s okay! So keep that in mind when you’re thinking about your next goal, or resolution — what is your intention? Once you clarify that, then create from there!

The energy we have changes our experiences! Be mindful of how you carry yourself, and how others are around you. Great energy can greatly impact the course of our day, for better or for worse. So let it be great! See what happens when you step into a room next time with tons of positive energy, and how others react. Be their bright light! Leave that room even better than when you first stepped in! There is no better compliment than someone saying how much they love your energy! The world needs more positivity, so be the reason it overflows in happiness!
